Shenzhen Bay Yuefu fire alarm: How to ensure the safety of high-rise residential buildings?
Author:
According to Shenzhen News Radio, on the afternoon of December 11, 2024, an explosion occurred in a residential building in Phase 2 of Shenzhen Bay Yuefu. According to the on-site fire rescue personnel, the explosion caused a fire, and the initial investigation showed that the fire originated on the 28th floor of the residential building, and the fire quickly spread to the 29th and 30th floors. After receiving the alarm, the Shenzhen Fire Rescue Detachment responded quickly, dispatching 80 firefighters and 16 fire trucks to the scene for disposal.
Although the rescue operation was timely and effective, the difficulty of fighting fires in high-rise buildings has attracted widespread attention.
Traditional fire fighting faces challenges
The high-rise building in Phase 2 of Shenzhen Bay Yuefu was severely damaged in the explosion, and the fire spread rapidly, posing great challenges to the rescue work. High-rise fires spread rapidly and are difficult to evacuate, easily causing serious losses.
Traditional fire rescue methods often face limitations in terms of the height and water supply capacity of fire trucks and equipment when dealing with high-rise building fires, making it difficult to quickly control the fire. In addition, the explosion may also damage evacuation facilities such as stairs and elevators, further increasing the difficulty of rescue. Public concerns and attention to high-rise fire rescue have also prompted people to consider more efficient and safer rescue methods.
UAV fire fighting: New hope for rescue
On social media, many netizens have voiced their concerns about the current rescue methods for high-rise fires. Among them, UAV fire fighting technology has become a focus of many discussions.
Advantages of UAVs in high-rise rescue
In the fire rescue of high-rise buildings, traditional fire fighting methods often face many challenges, especially the problems of "inaccessibility, unreliability, and unavailability," which seriously restrict on-site rescue. In contrast, UAVs have shown the following unique advantages in high-rise fire fighting and rescue:
Rapid response and high-rise arrival: With its excellent flight performance, UAVs can quickly navigate through congested urban traffic and reach the scene of a high-rise building fire. Its operating height far exceeds that of traditional fire trucks, significantly shortening response time and effectively solving the problem of fire trucks being unable to reach the required height in high-rise fire rescue.
High-altitude precision reconnaissance: Using high-definition cameras and thermal imaging technology, UAVs can conduct comprehensive reconnaissance of the fire scene at high altitudes, accurately identifying the location of the fire source and the fire situation, providing a scientific basis for command decision-making, and solving the problem of ground personnel being unable to approach.
Efficient fire fighting operations: UAVs equipped with fire extinguishing devices can directly reach the vicinity of the fire point and accurately spray or drop fire extinguishing agents, effectively solving the problem of firefighters being unable to directly reach the fire source to extinguish the fire.
Auxiliary evacuation and rescue: UAVs can carry lighting equipment, communication repeaters, or life-saving equipment to provide temporary lighting, communication support, or directly participate in rescue operations for trapped personnel, significantly improving evacuation efficiency and rescue safety in high-rise fires.
Real-time monitoring and evaluation: During the fire extinguishing process, UAVs can continuously monitor changes in the fire scene, evaluate the fire extinguishing effect, and adjust the fire extinguishing strategy in a timely manner to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the fire extinguishing operation, solving the problem of delayed or incomplete acquisition of dynamic information at the fire scene.
Gas explosion: Emergency escape strategy
In the face of gas explosion accidents, advance prevention and correct escape methods are crucial.
Evacuate immediately: After detecting a gas leak or hearing an explosion, quickly leave the explosion site and stay away from the fire source and dangerous areas. Avoid using elevators and use the stairs to escape.
Stay calm: Stay calm during the escape process to avoid panic leading to wrong decisions. Try to bend over or crawl to reduce the risk of inhaling harmful gases.
Turn off power and fire sources: If the safety situation permits, quickly turn off power and fire sources to avoid causing a larger fire.
Avoid touching power sources and electrical appliances: Explosions can cause short circuits and electrical leaks, so avoid touching electrical equipment or power plugs.
Find shelter: If possible, find objects that can provide shelter, such as tables and walls, to protect your body from the damage caused by fragments from the explosion.
